Sailing a boat in north Greece: Discover Halkidiki Peninsula

A fishing boat on calm see water on a beautiful day in Halkidiki Greece

Located east of Thessaloniki, the Halkidiki Peninsula has a characteristic trident shape, which evokes associations with the Greek ruler of the seas – Poseidon. The teeth form three peninsulas: Kassandra, Athos and Sithonia. All three are characterized by paradise beaches and crystal clear waters. However, there is no shortage of wonderful architecture and Greek atmosphere. Boat charter in northern parts of Greece gives you attractive sailing directions that are not as crowded as the other parts but still as beautiful.

Kassandra, the westernmost of the three peninsulas, is the most touristically developed. It is known for its wide, sandy beaches, luxury resorts and vibrant nightlife. Beaches such as Kalithea, Sani and Pefkochori attract tourists with their golden sands and blue waters. Along the coast, there are numerous beach bars and taverns that serve delicious Greek cuisine and fresh seafood. Traditional villages such as Afitos are also worth a visit, with their unique stone houses and narrow streets.

Sithonia, the central peninsula, is less developed than Kassandra, making it an ideal destination for lovers of nature and tranquillity. It offers wild beaches, coves, mountainous landscapes and traditional villages. Beaches such as Kavourotripes, Armenistis and Sarti are known for their crystal clear waters and beautiful coves surrounded by rocks. Sithonia is a paradise for diving and snorkelling enthusiasts, thanks to the richness of underwater life and the clarity of the water. Inland, you can explore dense pine forests, which offer excellent conditions for hiking and cycling. Villages such as Nikiti and Parthenonas are worth a visit, where you can feel the atmosphere of a traditional Greek village, with stone houses, local markets and friendly locals.

Athos, the easternmost peninsula, is mainly known for the autonomous monastic republic of Mount Athos. It is one of the most important spiritual centres of Orthodoxy, with over a thousand years of monastic history. It is worth knowing that the autonomous monastic republic of Athos can only be reached with a permit when sailing in northern Greece. Admission to Athos is strictly controlled and only available to men who must obtain a special permit. Women are not allowed to enter the peninsula, which is due to centuries-old traditions.

Yacht Charter in Halkidiki

If you want to sail around northern Greece, the marinas of Nikiti and Keramoti are a great place to start your charter.

Marina Nikiti is located between the Kassandra and Sithonia peninsulas. Sailing out of it, we have a choice of various routes. Regardless of the direction in which we go on the cruise, charming coves, paradise beaches and a real Greek climate will be waiting for us. The number of yachts available is much smaller than in Athens, but there are a few vessels that are great for sailing.

Keramoti Marina is located only 10 kilometres from Kavala Airport. The port is mainly used by ferries and fishing boats, so the number of berths for yachts in northern Greece is limited.

Do you want to feel the Greek atmosphere on your own skin, but you are worried about the lack of a skipper's license? No problem! We offer qualified skippers with many years of experience at sea, who will ensure the safety and comfort of your crew during the cruise.
